Annual Latvian homebrew meet

In May 12, 2012 the annual Latvian homebrew meet will take place for the 3rd time. This time in Northwestern Latvia, a few kilometers from Blome village. It will be attended by most of Latvian homebrewers.

The main event will be held on 12 May, but it all starts the previous evening on 11 May with late night tasting rounds. On Saturday morning beer competition will be held (English Premium Bitter only, according to slightly modified BJCP guidelines), followed by a few lectures, discussions as well as a small brewing demonstration. All the time tastings will take place and at least 40 different brews, if not more, are expected.

Location of Blome. Just got to and enter "Blome, Latvia"

Participation fee is 15 EUR per person and includes 5 meals and simple lodging. Simple means that only beds and mattresses are provided, all the blankets and bedsheets have to be brought by participants themselves. Sleeping bags is another option. The house where the even will be held is heated.

Main language of the event is Latvian, but usually there are foreign homebrewers and beer lovers attending and many Latvian brewers speak English and/or Russian.

It is not easy to reach Blome by public transport, although there are buses, timetables are idiotic. It certainly will be possible to secure a place or a few in a car of Latvian homebrewers driving from Riga or other Latvian regions. Blome is located quite close to several Latvian breweries, in 30km radius there is Valmiermuiza, Piebalgas and Brengulu breweries and just a few km further away, Cēsu as well, so you can possibly arrange some excursions.
