This is walking distance from town, we did it from ALEhouse in less than 20 minutes, and we didn’t have much of a clue what we were doing. I like the look - the ceiling is wonderful, and I like the fact the brewkit and stores are visible. Service was good, decent English spoken. It wasn’t so clear what beers were on, and which weren’t, so I kept asking for things that were off. Worse, alas, was that I kept asking for things that were on, but were off. Come on guys - don’t serve your own beer in a sub-standard state. I know that during the depressed soviet times Latvians put up with what was available, just like here in Estonia, but there’s no reason to consider sour beer acceptable nowadays ("unless, of course, it’s a lambic, in which case it’s awesome"). 3 out of 6 sour - that’s an awful ratio for a brewpub. However, they’re just starting out, and perhaps nobody’s had the balls to mention the elephant in the room (belgis may have done so already though, see below). The next time I go to Riga I will go straight here, hopefully they will at least have started to sort things out as they know there’s a problem. I’ve tasted many many beers by Edgars in the past (as a judge, tasting blind, and repeatedly giving his beers high marks), I know he’s a great brewer, but they have to get these things under control. Hopefully there will be a more positive review next time...
Varbūt tiešām kaut kas ar kegiem? Katrā ziņā veiksmi problēmas atrašanā un novēršanā..
